No thanks for real natives

The labour policy changes expose the ANC’s racism. A worthy affirmative action candidate is black in the most banal, corrupt manner.

The ANC deserves the Malemas and Manyis, while Steve Biko doesn’t get the RIP he so deserves.

We rejected the label “coloured” under apartheid. Quislings and Uncle Toms were excluded from the struggle in ways that the ANC did not exclude homeland quislings. Through the UDF, the “Capies” helped the ANC to power in 1994.

What “stank vir dank” (stink for thanks) for the descendants of the only original natives, who boast great ancestors, among whom were the first black political prisoners on Robben Island.

Yes, the term black is as old as the history of colonialism.

The ANC’s desired “nationalisation” of the Cape is related to the land question. But if there is any group that can claim prior rights to South Africa, it is us, the “too many coloureds”. Those with not a drop of Khoi/Khoe blood are not natives.

No amount of propaganda will change this historical fact. Also, the claim that our mother tongue is a foreign language is rubbish. The first Afrikaans was spoken by the Khoi/Khoe (that gave Nguni tongues the clicks) under the influence of the Dutch.

The Afrikaans of Victor Wessels, Neville Alexander, Mathews Phosa or Jakes Gerwel has long since been transformed into a language of liberation – expressed in resistance, nation building and democracy.

In solidarity with the “Soweto revolt”, this Afrikaans was sacrificed just as other (and newer) South African languages did not develop as speedily when English became the lingua franca.People of the South, we join your disconsolate voices.
