Police arrive for Jub Jub case

Police began arriving at the Protea Magistrates Court this morning ahead of the appearance of hip-hop artist Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala, accused of killing four school children in a car crash.

Court officials and police stood outside the court house in windy conditions to monitor the situation.

The area was calm and no protesters were present.

Neither of the accused had arrived at court by 8am.

Pandemonium had previously broken out at court appearances with protesters and families making death threats against Maarohanye.

At the last appearance, he was shielded by police when families of the deceased chased him out of court, baying for his blood.

Maarohanye and Tshabalala face four murder charges after an accident with their two Mini Coopers in March this year which left four school children dead.
