It’s a song that can bring out the best or the worst in a singer – Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You.
When sung badly, it can get you humiliated on national TV, rejected by your social circle or assaulted by a spouse.
It can even get you arrested – as happened last week with a woman on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York because she wouldn’t stop singing the song – tunelessly and at the top of her unremarkable voice, according to video footage shot by a passenger.
The plane made an emergency landing in Kansas and police handcuffed and removed the wannabe Idol forcibly, with her singing the whole way out.
She was later released without charges, but American Airlines refused to fly her to her destination and she had to make her own arrangements to get to New York.
By this week, though, she has found fame – going viral on the internet.
