Stern warning to criminals ahead of festive season

Police top brass today issued a stern warning to criminals who terrorise people by robbing them.

“There will be no space for thugs. We will squeeze space for criminals. There must be no space for criminals,” Police Commissioner Bheki Cele told scores of officers.

He was speaking during the launch of festive season security plans which was also attended by Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa at Bridge City, KwaMashu, north of Durban.

Cele said there will be no mercy for criminals, saying that the community must report criminals.

“These criminals are your boyfriends and husbands. They are known to the community and they must be reported to the police,” he said.

Earlier Mthethwa and Cele went on a walkabout at Warwick Avenue, Durban’s transport hub.

They spoke to people, listened to their grievances and promised that police will look at those problem places.
