Three arrested with drugs

Three men were arrested for allegedly being in possession of drugs with a street value of R60 000 in Chatsworth this morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

“The first 33-year-old man was arrested at 7am. He was allegedly found with 50 straws of whunga estimated to be worth R10 000,” said Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge.

The second man (21) was allegedly found with cocaine with a street value of R20 000.

“The third man was allegedly found with illegal cigarettes which have high levels of nicotine and were not allowed in South Africa. The street value for the cigarettes is R40,000,” said Mdunge.

The three men were allegedly working as a syndicate but were each running their own individual operations.

They were due to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
