Three killed in Kuruman crash

Three people were killed when two cars collided on the N14 outside Kuruman in the Northern Cape, paramedics said today.

Vanessa Jackson, spokesperson for emergency service ER24, said a double-cab bakkie and a VW Polo collided yesterday afternoon, 10km from Kuruman in the direction of Katu.

She said three occupants of the VW Polo had sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on the scene.

A fourth occupant was critically injured and one passenger in the bakkie was trapped inside the wreckage.

The fire and rescue services used the jaws of life to free him from the wreckage.

Three other men in the bakkie were able to climb out of the wreckage themselves and were treated on the scene for minor injuries.
