Trott equals fastest runs record

England’s Jonathan Trott equalled the record for the fastest 1?000 one-day international runs by reaching the mark in his 21st innings during a World Cup match against Ireland today.

Trott needed 64 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to equal the record of West Indies great Vivian Richards and England team-mate Kevin Pietersen after coming in at 91 for one.

The 29-year-old South Africa-born batsman, who made his ODI debut against Ireland in Belfast in August 2009, reached four figures with two off left-arm spinner George Dockrell.?
