After the celebrations are done and dusted following the election of a new leader, the party will have to decide on which road it takes, especially with local government elections close by, writes Ralph Mathekga.

The Democratic Alliance held a successful historic virtual conference over the weekend, electing John Steenhuisen to lead the troubled opposition party.

It was expected that Steenhuisen would be elected the new leader, alongside Helen Zille as the chairperson of the powerful federal council.
