Numerous suspects caught in Nyanga police precinct

In the past seven days, 139 suspects were arrested for various offences in Nyanga.

Nyanga police spokesperson Capt Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi said the eagerness and persistence shown by Nyanga police and other law enforcement agencies deployed in the area continuously result in huge successes.

Sitshitshi said four suspects were arrested for possession of illegal firearms.

A further 42 were arrested for possession of drugs, 18 for possession of dangerous weapons (including knives) and 14 for illegally dealing in liquor.

Police also arrested 10 suspects found under the influence of alcohol while driving, seven for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, three for rape, four for housebreaking and theft and others for murder armed robbery, possession of a hijacked vehicle and several other offences. “Three illegal firearms were recovered, 18 different knives and various drugs confiscated, 32 illegal liquor outlets were searched which led to 1360.68F liquor being confiscated,” said Sitshitshi. She also cautioned residents against reckless behaviour and consequences thereof.
