The community of Bonteheuwel is in shock after an 88-year-old woman was brutally killed by two pit bulls today (28 March).
Olga Grill from Loganburry Street was so brutally mauled that an arm and a leg were ripped from her body.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Samantha Adonis says the Bonteheuwel police were called to the gruesome scene on Tuesday.
"According to the deceased’s son Graham Woodman (68), who resides with his mother, he left for work at 03:00 this morning (Tuesday) and when he returned, he found his mom's body in the backyard. According to him, the neighbour's dogs have access to their property at night for safety reasons. It is alleged that the mother entered the yard before the gate of the dogs was closed," says Adonis.
Adonis says the dogs will be fetched by the SPCA and will probably be euthanised.
"An inquest has been opened by the police," confirms Adonis.
