Durban – While results trickled in from around the country, by 11:00 figures for the eThekwini Metro were still not publicly available.
Currently, eThekwini reflects “no results” on the IEC's website.
IEC spokesperson Thabani Ngwira told News24 on Thursday that the results were still being captured and would only appear on the IEC website once this had been completed.
The IEC's chief electoral officer Mosotho Moepya told a media conference shortly before noon that eThekwini had two stations that were still being counted on Thursday morning but he was almost certain that this process had been completed.
"I think it is important for us to say we are not going to rush results and compromise on the quality," he added.
The DA’s Zwakele Mncango said there were delays.
“We have all been told that there is an IT problem which they are currently trying to sort out. They did not explain what the problem was,” he said.
ANC spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli said the party was not aware of the problem.
IEC KwaZulu-Natal chair Mawethu Mosery was expected to brief the media on Thursday.
