The latest: ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule will not be stepping down this week as the ANC is likely to grant him another lifeline.

What we know: Magashule's 30-day deadline to step down from the party or face suspension, expired on Wednesday, and he was supposed to have stepped down the next day.

The scoop: But at least two national executive committee members, ANC policy head Jeff Radebe and water and sanitation minister Lindiwe Sisulu, said the issue would be discussed at the NEC meeting set to take place next weekend.
