The story: The National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) will meet virtually on Tuesday to consider restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcohol in areas that are deemed hot spots across the country, News24 has confirmed.

What we know: Two reliable sources, close to the discussions, confirmed bars and taverns were first in the firing line, but the meeting was expected to debate whether it would first impose area-specific restrictions instead of countrywide measures.

More details: This discussion would include a proposal to implement a curfew, restrict the maximum number for gatherings and other measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 ahead of the festive period.
