The story: Organisers of the aQuellé Midmar Mile sporting event say while they condemn criminal activity, they are also cognisant of the "positive impact that aQuellé as a brand and a sponsor has had on the sporting industry".

The details: An extensive News24 exposé details allegations of rape, abuse and financial crimes at KwaSizabantu Mission (KSB) located in KwaZulu-Natal, which saw numerous retailers halting their business with companies associated with the mission, including aQuellé. Leaders of the mission own Ekhamanzi Springs which owns aQuellé.

The context: The Midmar Mile has been sponsored by the bottled water company for more than 10 years and sees thousands gather to take part in the world's largest open water swimming event, according to the event's website.
