Inside the ANC: A decision by the ANC's national executive committee (NEC) for criminally charged leaders to step aside from their position is facing fresh rebellion as the 30-day deadline has expired.

Who's involved: ANC MP Bongani Bongo is preparing to challenge the decision in court if an appeal against the step-aside directive to the NEC is not entertained.

The context: Bongo is appearing in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Tuesday in relation to a R124 million fraud case in Mpumalanga. He said he will appeal the NEC decision and if he is not successful he will challenge the decision in court.
