The story: Scientists and experts are trying to figure out the next step in South Africa's vaccine roll-out strategy after Sunday's announcement that the roll-out of the AstraZeneca vaccine would be halted and the Johnson & Johnson or Pfizer vaccine would be expedited for roll-out.

The details: On Sunday, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize announced a study had found the AstraZeneca vaccine was less effective on mild and moderate Covid-19 501Y.V2 variant infection. This has put a halt on government’s plans to rollout the AstraZeneca vaccine to healthcare workers, who were supposed to receive the jab within days.
