Isipingo store owner robbed


AN Isipingo business owner is recovering in
Kingsway hospital after he was robbed.

Roy Roops (55), owner of Roops General Dealer, was closing his store when he was approached by three armed men on Wednesday, 5 July.

Roops was walking to his vehicle when he noticed three men walking towards him, carrying firearms. He rushed to his vehicle, but was cornered. The armed men demanded his vehicle’s keys, which Roops refused to hand over.

He was subsequently hit over the head with a firearm. The suspects fled the with his vehicle.

The businessman made his way to a nearby shop where he was assisted. He sustained injuries to his head. Fifteen stitches to the head later, the suspects are still at large.

The SAPS asks anyone with information to contact their nearest station. An investigation is ongoing.
