AMANZIMTOTI High School hosted a school SleepOut recently.
The event calls on pupils to spend a night outdoors on their school grounds in an effort to experience what life is like for those who are less fortunate. They also discuss empathy and homelessness, and collect items for beneficiaries.
The Amanzimtoti High School SleepOut was hosted by the head girl Sian Posthumus and head boy Wesley Du Toit.
The 2017 School SleepOut Ambassador for KwaZulu-Natal, Lexi Theocharopoulos, also visited the event to address pupil and thank them for rising to the challenge.
The group discussions throughout the night were based around the seriousness of homelessness and the ways in which people survive outdoors.
Songs were sung around the bonfire, while a pupil played the guitar. Pupils joined cardboard boxes together to make shelters for one another.
They also collected much needed items for their chosen beneficiary, Baby Hope House. Host your own school SleepOut before August 8, by registering at www.theceosleepout za.co.za - Supplied.
