“Corrupt” test officers arrested for fraud

On Wednesday, the Hawks, swooped on the Lingelethu Driving Licence and Testing Centre, arresting seven employees (six civilians and a security guard) for alleged fraud and corruption.

Mayco member for Safety and Security and Social Services J.P Smith said the suspects are expected to appear in court soon, but could not be specific.

He added that the City would also conduct internal disciplinary processes, running parallel to the criminal charges.

“We have zero tolerance approach to staff misconduct and thank the Hawks for helping the City to ensure that we run a clean administration,” he said.

The Hawks had not responded to City Vision at the time of going to print.
