When Amanda Myeki paid a visit to her boyfriend’s house in Ekuphumleni, Khayelitsha one Saturday afternoon earlier this month, she couldn’t have known that it would be the last her child saw of her.
Amanda,26, from Langa, is alleged to have died at the hands of her boyfriend, who is also the father of their one year old child.
She was laid to rest last Saturday in Langa.
The suspect, Buhle Mkhaliphi, is in custody until his next appearance on 17 October, made a second appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday a week ago.
The details of the trial were still sketchy at the time of going to trial.
Nomonde Myeki, 42, an aunt of the deceased, said they were still in the dark as to what transpired on that fateful day.
“We received a call from one of the relatives of the boyfriend to come to Khayelitsha as Amanda has been killed,” Nomonde said.
