A Gugulethu radioman is one step closer to reaching his goal of being a well-known jock in the airwaves.

Wanda Ndlumbini, 26, recently landed a Sunday night radio show at UCT Radio where he has been working on the graveyard shift, in the early hours of the morning.

For Ndlumbini, this is a big step forward as it will get him closer to his passion which is the night life scene in the Mother City.

“I now get to interview Cape Town’s best entertainment people in the music industry and I also enjoy interacting with my listeners every week. The show has a topic where listeners share their views, a poetry session and old school where I play music from the 90’s, House, RnB, Kwaito, Hip hop and Afro Pop,” said Ndlumbini.

Ndlumbini began his radio career in 2014 after being inspired by locals who have made it to the airwaves.

“I grew up loving music in general including listening to the radio the likes of Bra Diggy Bongz (Heart FM), Bra Bongani Njoli of Etv, Monde Kapa (Algoa FM ) the list is endless, are among my influences in the radio industry.

While I fell in love with the music industry where my brother Muzi was the DJ/ Marketing Manager at a well known club called “Club Snap”.

He took me on weekends to see him at the time, he didn’t know that I also wanted to be in the industry.

My other brother Arnold had a big influence when it came on radio as he loved listening to the likes of the late Eddie Zondi, Wilson B Nkosi,” he said.

He says that his dream to be a presenter on the national radio station and belives that this is still attainable.

“I see myself working for the a commercial radio station whether in Cape Town or anywhere and if all goes well this year people might see me on TV.

Most importantly I want my show to be able to give exposure to local talent and entrepreneurs.

I urge all music people who would like to promote their brands in terms of singers, dj’s, poetry, producers, acting & entrepreneur who would like radio exposure to contact me,” he said.
