Council is extending its services at various vehicle registration and licensing centres on Saturdays to ensure the process of vehicle licence renewal and registration is convenient and smooth for residents.
The extension of operating hours to a Saturday assists in alleviating pressure on the centres during the week and also does not disrupt the schedule of residents during the working week.
Centres that will be open on Saturdays include Strand, Kuils River, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Strandfontein, Plumstead, Pinelands, Milnerton, Liberty Promenade Mall, Fezeka, Cape Town Civic Centre, Bellville and Airport Industria.
In a statement, the City of Cape Town implored customers to renew their vehicle licences as soon as possible to avoid hefty fines for expired motor vehicle licences, especially ahead of the Easter weekend.
When renewing your vehicle licence, remember to take along a proof of address, as required by national government. Furthermore, card payment facilities are available for registrations and renewals at most offices; the City will accept payments of up to R7 000 per transaction by credit or debit card, or any other means of payment which does not hold any cost implications for the client.
