What are my great expectations for 2016? I call them great because they are great. Let’s not do things small. Mediocre doesn’t help. It attracts more mediocre. Just as they say, “Like attracts like.”
So what are they? Let start from the outside. I expect service providers to do their work. Anyone who is on the frontline, be their cashiers or officials, I expect them to do their work.
I wish I were a president addressing my people. This is what I will say. I’ll say, “Front liners, do your work. Serve the people. The people are gatvol. You have been giving them a tough time.”
“Treat them as customers, and not as dirt. Customers come first.
Whether they are right or not, do that. They come first.” I don’t know what the reaction will be to that. I guess it will be positive.
The people will say, “The president is coming down to earth. He is now responding to our needs.” Let’s take it further. Let’s look at taxis.
This is another area that leaves a lot to be desired. We are buying a service. And the service we get is atrocious. Clearing my throat, I will continue, “Taxis; treat your commuters with respect. They are your masters. Don’t call them in, and after paying treat them like dirt.”
You know how they are, mos. They are nice when they want you, but become rude after getting your money. And that’s not right. We need to be consistent. We need to be consistent everywhere. Our country is not working the way it ought to work. Take any sector:
trade unions, education, markets, and so on. It is just haphazard. And why is that? It is the way we think. Everything starts from thought. We’ve been through this thing before. Thoughts are the cause, and conditions are the results. And I guess we can do better than that. We can be a winning nation. It’s a pity space doesn’t allow me to go on. If there’s an outside, there must be an inside. And that inside is I. And what do I expect of myself? I expect to improve my thinking. I expect to free myself of false beliefs. I wasn’t aware I was a slave to false beliefs. I realized this over the festive season. I had time to learn about it, and to think about it. And it was astonishing. But there is not need to blame one’s self. And to kick one’s self.
All I could say I’m grateful I’ve seen the light. I know it is not over just because of that. Stay positive.
