Lwandle police are investigating the murder of a 31-year-old man at Halthi Drive in Asanda Village on Tuesday 17 November.

The incident occurred around 06:30, and the motive was still unknown.

Lwandle police spokesperson Sgt Mthokozisi Gama said preliminary investigation showed the man had been shot multiple times in the head and died at the scene.

“Eight cartridges, two projectiles and one ammunition round were collected from the crime scene as evidence,” he said.

*In a separate incident, a 45-year-old man was shot in the right leg by an unknown gunman at his house on Tuesday 17 November. The shooting took place around 06:20 at Celiwe Street, Asanda Village.

According to police, the victim was informed by his son that someone was at the door looking for him. It is alleged that when the home owner opened the door he realised the man had a firearm. “He immediately closed the door and ran to the bedroom to lock himself in,” Gama said. “The suspect shot through the door and hit him on the right leg. On the way out the gunman grabbed a cellphone that was charging in the kitchen.”

Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
