Rape case opened against Khayelitsha man (45)

A man is being detained for allegedly raping three underage girls in Khayelitsha.

The mother of two of the girls said the man accused of raping her daughters is known to them because he previously stayed with them in the same yard.

“He started raping my 14-year-old daughter when she was six and promised to kill her and me if she told anyone,” she said.

She said her daughter told her after she confessed at school. She was then called in to hear what her daughter had told the school.

The worst part is the fact that the man is her sister’s boyfriend. The accused also confessed to allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl.

“What he did to my children is killing me because I thought I could trust him,” she said.

The mother of a 10-year-old claimed the man used to give her child some money.

She claimed the man raped her child about six times.

She added that her daughter told the teachers at school and that is how she found out.

Khayelitsha police station spokesperson Const Lowellan West said a rape case was opened against a 45-year-old man for raping a 14-year-old girl.

West said it is alleged that the rape took place over a few years when the complainant was between the ages of six and 11.

West said it is alleged that the victim was threatened if she would tell anyone about the rape and she would be killed.

He added that detectives are investigating the case against the suspect and he will be brought before court to give account for his wrongdoings.
