Lwandle police have made a strong call to the community to report missing persons immediately.
The request comes after numerous reports of missing persons were made over the last few months at Lwandle Police Station. Many of these report were not made immediately after the disappearance of the person.
The police would like to inform the community that there is no waiting period for reporting a missing person.
Sergeant Mthokozisi Gama urged the community to report a missing person at the nearest police station immediately after the person goes missing.
“Provide a recent picture of the missing person. Remember, although you may not have a picture at that very moment, police will still assist you.”
Gama said Lwandle police have zero reports of incidents of children being abducted, despite recent rumours.
He, however, appealed to parents to be more careful.
Said Gama: “We also appeal to everyone to alert an immediate family member before embarking on any journey, so that should you not come back, we have a starting point to work from. Always teach your children about important numbers.”
Once again, anyone wishing to report a missing person may visit Lwandle Police Station. The station’s phone number is 082 522 1206.
