THE pint-sized little dynamite Terisha Seetharam achieved a podium finish having just been beaten in the final by a Western province athlete in an action packed National Karate South Africa (KSA) championships held at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre recently. Terisha received a silver medal.

The Seatides Combined pupil has been mentored and coached by Protea head coach Brando Pillay Shihan who expressed his delight at his prodigy’s success in the tournament arena.

“Terisha is an immensely talented karateka who is destined to be a future world champion especially given her dedication and commitment to her karate career,” Pillay said.

President of KSA Sonny Pillay Hanshi, under whom Terisha trains regularly during the week at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre, said Terisha is a great role model for other young girls to follow especially those keen on martial arts. “Terisha is the daughter of parents who are teachers and she is a young lady with impeccable manners and discipline and therefore I believe she is destined for huge success in her sporting career,” he said.

Pillay once again cautioned parents to do their homework before enrolling their children for karate lessons as there are bogus so called karate instructors with dubious black belt ranks misleading the public.
