Taxi crashes into tree: Verulam -

Reaction Unit SA officers responded to a taxi collision at approximately 6.45am on Saturday 9 July in Redcliffe near the Verulam Quarry.

Upon arrival officers found the taxi that had knocked down a light pole before crashing into a tree.

The driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was not injured in the accident.

It is alleged that the driver of the taxi avoided a truck which veered into his lane resulting in the accident.

Man injured after fall: Tongaat -

A man was injured after he fell approximately four metres from scaffolding at a construction site on Gopalall Hurbans Road in Tongaat.

At approximately 1pm on Saturday 9 July members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the construction site after receiving requests for medical assistance for the injured man.

Upon arrival the construction worker was treated for moderate injuries before being transported to a local hospital.

It is alleged that while setting up a steel structure the man slipped from the scaffold and fell to the ground.

Housebreaking suspect apprehended: Verulam -

A suspect that was attempting to break into a business premises on Mission Road in Verulam was apprehended by members of Reaction Unit South Africa recently.

Officers were dispatched to the property after receiving information that the suspect had jumped over the perimeter wall.

Upon arrival officers found the suspect attempting to gain entry into the back of the building.

Necessary force had to be used to restrain the suspect after he resisted arrest.

The suspect is a habitual criminal and has been arrested by officers on several occasions for house breaking and theft.

Theft of motor vehicle: Tongaat –

Be on the lookout for a white Opel Corsa bakkie with registration NJ 64975.

The vehicle was stolen from the Tongaat river mouth on Saturday the 09th of July 2016. The bakkie was fitted with a white canopy.
