50-year-old rescued: Verulam
A 50-year-old man was rescued by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) after her fell and broke his leg while crossing a river in Verulam on Monday 22 August.
The man, who is a resident of Mountview in Verulam was attempting to cross a river near a temple that flows between Brindhaven and Oaklands when he slipped on a rock and wooden pallet.
Rusa paramedics stabilised the injured man and transported him to Osindisweni Hospital.
He suffered a broken right leg.
Massage therapist steals client’s jewellery: Verulam
At approximately 6.15pm on Monday 22 August members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to a home on Everest Lane in Brindhaven, Verulam after receiving a call from a woman reporting her jewellery stolen.
Upon arrival the victim explained that a neighbour recommended the services of an Indian woman who specialised in massage therapy.
The woman arrived at the victim’s home to do a demonstration. The suspect removed the victim’s Thali chain and ring before giving her a neck massage.
After the suspect had left the victim realised that her jewellery as well as a set of keys had been stolen. It could not be confirmed if the suspect had left on foot or if she had a vehicle waiting for her.
The victim could not provide much details regarding the suspect except that she was dressed in Indian attire.
Theft of motor vehicle: Tongaat
Be on the lookout for a white Toyota Hilux bakkie with registration NJ 94493.
The vehicle was stolen from Arbee Drive in the Tongaat CBD on Wednesday 24 August. It was fitted with a canopy and had Kaizer Chiefs stickers on the rear view mirrors.

Armed robbery: Tongaat
At approximately 6pm on Friday 26 August members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Mahatma Gandhi Crescent in Tongaat after receiving reports of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival officers were informed that two armed suspects gained entry into the home where they tied up the seven occupants.
The suspects then ransacked the residence in search of keys to the safe. Upon locating the keys the suspects stole two CZ 75 hand guns as well as an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
None of the victims were injured during the robbery.
