accreditation

TWO women were killed in two separate lightning strikes during a storm near Harding on Sunday night.

Two other women were seriously injured and treated by paramedics who responded to the emergency.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the emergency call centre had received multiple reports of lightning strikes at the Jali informal settlement.

“From the initial incident we had a 51-year-old woman who was killed when lightning struck her home.

“She sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
“Several other people, who were inside the house, managed to escape unharmed,” he said.

Later in a separate case in the same area, McKenzie said that a woman was killed.

“A woman sustained fatal injuries and two other women sustained serious injuries.

“They were treated at the scene and transported to hospital by ambulance,” he said.
