LOCAL artists Lonwabo (28) and Phumlile Ngangezwa (19) were well supported by the Kokstad community during their performances at the launch of the Kokstad Skills Development Centre held at the Bhongweni Youth Centre last Friday.
The pair, who are also brothers, performed Hip Hop and R&B music with the aim of entertaining and motivating young people.
“Instead of doing crime like most people from our community, we decided to keep ourselves busy by entertaining people and we are grateful for the support from the municipality and government departments.
“At home, we are always singing and our aim is to build our brand in the music industry,” said Phumlile who is a Grade 11 pupil at
Lonwabo is working in Kokstad and when he is off duty he plays music. They released their first single Dust in 2015 and the second Grinding last year.
Speakers at the launch encouraged the youth not to get involved in drugs and crime and rather learn from what Phumlile and Lonwabo have done.
Young people were also advised to have role models to attain their goals.
