DURING a special operation by the Kokstad SAPS three people were arrested for drug dealing.
From January 11 to January 13, police patrolled in and around Kokstad and arrested a 22-year-old woman for allegedly selling whoonga and dagga in Marikana.
A vehicle was stopped in Kokstad and dagga was found and a 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with the possession of dagga.
In Horseshoe, police arrested a 31-year-old woman after they found dagga hidden in a pillowcase at her home. Police also closed an illegal liquor store in Horseshoe.
The arrested people appeared in the Kokstad Magistrate’s Court on Monday, however, their court appearance outcome was unavailable at the time of going to press.
Police spokesman Captain Dumisani Ncongo said police will not sleep until crime is contained in Kokstad.
Many burglaries have been reported recently and Ncongo said police are working around the clock to bring criminals to book.
“On January 13 a housebreaking case was opened after a TV was stolen. A DVD player was also stolen in Bhongweni and it is suspected the criminals broke a door to get inside. No arrests have been made,” said Ncongo.
