WARM greetings to all readers of this viewpoint.
Municipal IDP/Budget Process Plan
According to the local government calendar, we are now in the first month of the third quarter of the 2017/2018 financial year.
As per the adopted IDP/Budget Process Plan, the municipality is busy with budget adjustments and departmental mid-year assessments.
In this quarter the municipality will conduct its strategic planning to evaluate the status quo, formulate strategies and indicators, review policies and align indicators with performance frame- work.
Electrification agenda continues
The municipality continues to address service delivery backlogs, with electricity being one of the main priorities. A number of projects are under way in Wards 3, 5, 9 and 18.
Through these electricity projects 2 950 households will be connected to the national electrification grid and jobs are being created.
These life-changing projects are almost in the final stages, at Chibini, Pamlaville, Nkali, New-Resh, Thotaneng, Nyaniso–Nkalweni, Bhubesi, Mahareng, Madlangala, Mahangwe and Edrayini.
It’s back to school time
The Matatiele Local Municipality and the Department of Education in Alfred Nzo West District is engaged in preparations for the annual matric awards for the Class of 2017 on February 1 at the Matatiele Town Hall.
The purpose is to honour and congratulate those who did exceptionally well in 2017 and encourage those who did not, to work hard this year.
As part of youth development, the municipality has initiated a programme targeting in-school youth and deserving pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have been admitted to institutions of higher learning.
The municipality, through the special programmes unit, has once again from January 8 assisted disadvantaged pupils with registering at higher institutions of their choice and assisted those who could not access the Internet to register online.
Matriculants who have been admitted at tertiary institutions are advised to take their statement of symbols, acceptance letter from institutions and proof of residence, etc.
As part of lending a helping hand to less privileged pupils from Matatiele, the municipality has bursaries available in the following fields of study: BSc Agricultural Science and Town-Urban/Regional planning Bachelor’s degree.
For more information, contact the special programmes unit at 039 737 8121 during office hours. That is all from us for now, till next time, stay safe and be blessed.
Thank you sweet people from sweet Matat, a destination of choice and excellence.
