SACP, Cosatu discuss issues

MEMBERS of the South African Communist Party (SACP) in Alfred Nzo District held their first bilateral meeting at the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) offices in Kokstad last week and several issues were raised.

Members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) also formed part of the meeting, which discussed the state of Cosatu and the SACP, and mapped a way forward on how to strengthen relations.

“The two partners agreed to embark on joint political work as part of improving relations, like intensifying campaigns to advance the working-class struggle, including the fight for a living wage, and to engage the ANC leadership at a regional level,” said Alfred Nzo District SACP spokesperson Lucky Malusi.

To advance unity and strengthen relations, members of the SACP agreed to convene an alliance summit to consolidate unity and visit every hot spot area as an alliance.

“We also agreed to have a joint operation with regards to a May Day rally and develop a meaningful consultation of all alliance partners and political engagements,” said Malusi.
