VUYISEKA Ntsanu (25) who plays for the Pumas Netball Club senior team has encouraged Kokstad young netball players to train hard and stay fit at all times. Last Saturday, Ntsanu attended the Harry Gwala District Netball Association training at Riverview Stadium while U 19 netballers were preparing for the national junior championships, to be held in Johannesburg in June.

Ntsanu, who works as a pharmacist in Kokstad but plays Netball in her spare time told the Fever about her love for the sport. “I started playing netball when I was still very young. My love of the sport developed in 2011 when I moved to University of Western Cape (UWC) for my studies. At UWC I received a lot of netball skills from different coaches,” said Ntsanu.

Ntsanu plays goal defender in the pitch and has shown remarkable skills for many netball clubs that she has played for, including the Pumas Netball Club based in Durban. She said Pumas is preparing to play in the super league in Durban this month and she was on the selected squad for those games.

“I train as much as I can to make sure the team does not lose in the league games. My dream is to play netball for the national squad and train young netballers,” Ntsanu said.

In January, she trained the Kokstad Primary School netball teams and now Harry Gwala District Netball Association wants to use her talent to grow the district squad.

“We don’t want to lose this talented netball player [Ntsanu] because she is very experienced,” said Simphiwe Cele of the Harry Gwala District Netball Association.

Ntsanu showed interest to develop netball in Kokstad and to contribute in the district squad.
