THE Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Mayor, Zamo Nxumalo, at a tourism festival at the Carisbrooke Hall last Saturday, told the Ixopo people to take care of trees and plant them in their villages to further promote tourism, as the Carisbrooke mountains attract many tourists to Ixopo.
At the event Nxumalo, the former MEC of the Department of Agriculture Meshack Radebe and Tim Denis, a local B&B owner, planted trees at an Ixopo train station, also to promote tourism.
“Trees are important in our lives and people must plant them in their yards, which help us to live a healthy life,” said Nxumalo.
“Many years ago the high Carisbrooke mountains were mostly used by congregants who prayed for rain on them, however, people are now visiting the mountains for their attractiveness,” said Denis.
