UMZIMKHULU fashion designers showcased their outfits at an Umzimkhulu Fashion Experience on Saturday.
Organiser Philani Dlamini said the purpose of the show was to open up opportunities for Umzimkhulu designers to showcase their products.
“Umzimkhulu has people that come from different tribes, including Xhosa, Zulu, Bhaca and Hlubi, and their culture and what they wear needs to be represented and accommodated by designers.
“The fashion show was to bring designers together in order for people to see what to wear during Heritage Month.
“It is upsetting to see people wearing casual clothes to traditional ceremonies instead of traditional outfits.
“I want to organise that people from other areas come and shop here, which will boost the Umzimkhulu economy,” said Dlamini.
