KOKSTAD police, together with the K9 Unit, embarked on an operation to eliminate the spread of drugs in town and surrounding areas last Friday.
The team went to a busy taxi rank where a search was conducted.
They managed to recover 30 full-moon mandrax tablets, whoonga and dagga. Three suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of drugs. Cash to the value of R10 076, suspected to be the proceeds of drug deals, was also confiscated from the arrested suspects,” said SAPS Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.
The total value of the recovered drugs is R15 100.
“The abuse of illegal substances is one of the root causes of violent crimes.
“The members are lauded for their efforts to take drugs off our streets,” said KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa.
Those arrested will appear in the Kokstad Magistrate’s Court for possession of drugs soon.
