THE newly elected Harry Gwala District youth council structure has been called upon to create skills and education opportunities to ensure that young people are equipped to reach their full potential and have a bright future.

These sentiments were expressed by the Harry Gwala District Youth Manager, Qiniso Ntozakhe, at the official launch of the Harry Gwala District Youth Council at Himeville Hall last Friday, September 28.

Ntozakhe said young people need to be capacitated in businesses to grow the economy and fight unemployment.

“My office will give assistance to the youth council for the benefit of young people who need guidance in starting their businesses,” said Ntozakhe.

Officials from the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature and Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs attended the event and promised to give their financial support.

The district council is led by its chairperson Nkululeko Khathi.

Khathi is supported by Njabulo Ngobane (secretary), Vuyisani Seroke (deputy chairperson), and Wandile Radebe (deputy secretary).

Additional members are Lona Luthuli, Thembela Nzala, Lihle Khuboni, Beki Sithole, Nokubonga Mankonka and Nonzuzo Mtolo.
