At least five people died in an accident involving a taxi that occurred outside Kathu on Saturday (21/04).
Four women are reported to have died on the scene, while another died hours later in a hospital in Kuruman.
According to Capt. Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, the accident was allegedly caused by a burst tyre, resulting in the taxi rolling several times.
Altogether 11 other passengers were injured, but are all in a stable condition in hospital.
They were travelling from Laxy Village, close to Kuruman.
“The Kathu police are investigating a case of culpable homicide. The accident occurred approximately 15 km outside Kathu at around 17:00,” Kock said in a statement.
