DEAR Councillor Desmond Michaels.
I write to congratulate you and the volunteers of the ANC on the victory in the 2016 local government elections, and for having made sure that Ward 3 is being led by ANC.
Local elections have come and gone and I believe it is a proud moment for us as ANC supporters and one that will be celebrated by many in our ward.
The local municipality elections is always a great source of encouragement to people throughout the country who believe in democracy, freedom and equality of opportunities. I am fully aware of the immensity of the task that lies before you. You will certainly have a great and difficult task, but also opportunities to create change in the lives of those people who continue to struggle to satisfy basic human needs and to have services delivered to them.
I am aware that people of Ward 3 long ardently for jobs and for better service delivery. I can only endorse their aspirations and express my willingness to contribute to any action in this regard.
For far too long, people have been experiencing unemployment and poor service delivery. But I have every confidence that under you and the ANC leadership, spaces for dialogue will be opened up, involving all sectors of society, including the churches.
May I also commend the determination and moral courage that was demonstrated throughout the campaign, as well as the kind-heartedness and steady hand that was shown when challenged. These same qualities should come through in your concern for the situation in Ward 3.
I hope that the opposition parties in our ward will support your efforts to make sure that we will have good service delivery, a healthy environment and that we will overcome poverty.
You should also remember and work for people, whether they stay in Baken Park, Bohlokong or Panorama. You and the ANC can be assured of my willingness to accompany the organization and support efforts to make our ward a better place for all who live in it, a place in which each and every one will experience the fullness and dignity of life on a daily basis. My prayers and good wishes go with you.
