THE drama at Eastern Province (EP) Rugby and the Kings continues. The latest developments have seen a group of players calling for Eastern Province Rugby Union president Cheeky Watson’s resignation, while financial uncertainties continue to plague the union ahead of Super Rugby 2016.
The South African Rugby Union (Saru) has agreed to intervene, and have claimed responsibility for the payments of some of the players for Super Rugby.
The Kings players are due to meet with Watson on Wednesday (16/12), who said that by then he will have more clarity on Saru’s exact role in allevia-ting the financial woes of the union.
The Kings are reportedly looking to implement a 50/50 policy in Super Rugby this season in terms of player representation. – Sport24
