Man arrested due to dagga find

The Selosesha Police destroyed a small dagga plantation uncovered at the Sannaspos Railway Station located 18 km from the town of Botshabelo on Monday (30/01).

Sgt Martin Xuma, police spokesperson, said a 33-year-old Indian man was arrested in connection with the dagga plantation. It was discovered behind a tuck shop located on the grounds of the station, which has been declared a National Monument.

He said the suspect orginated from Durban and had been employed to take care of the pigs of the piggery project at Sannaspos.

Xuma said the dagga, weighing 99,9 kg with an estimated street value of R99 900, was discovered after the police had received information.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court this week facing a charge regarding the illegal dagga plantation.
