The inaugural Miss Varsity Plus Size pageant winner, Naledi Koalepe (21), will compete in the prestigious Miss Plus South Africa World category, one of the two main categories. The other category is Mrs Plus SA World.

The two main categories offers the winners a once-in-a-life-time chance to represent South Africa internationally.

Naledi was crowned in the final of the Miss Varsity Plus pageant held in Bloemfontein on 3 August. As the overall winner she got automatic entry as finalist for the 2019 Miss Plus SA, which is one of the senior categories that offers the winner the opportunity to compete internationally.

Naledi was one of the 16 finalists who competed for the Ms Varsity title, for which students still enrolled at colleges and universities are eligible.

She is currently studying Language Practice B.Tech. at the Central University of Technology’s Free State campus in Bloemfontein. The Miss Varsity pageant coincides with Women’s Month celebrations in South Africa.

This pageant is also for curvy and well-shaped women and is a subsidiary of the Miss & Mrs South Africa Plus World competition. It is aimed at enabling SA women to redefine their natural beauty norms.
