Eskom in the Free State has announced that it would be implementing load reduction daily in selected towns in the province.
Dolores Itumeleng of Eskom provincial communication support, said load reduction was being implemented in the Lejweleputswa and Thabo Mofutsanyana district.
The reason for this action, which started on Tuesday (16/02), is to avoid overloading of the electricity grid in high-density areas. The areas are identified as prone to network overloading because of the high volume of power usage.
Eskom will implement load reduction in February during peak hours in the evening. This will be done from 17:00 until 20:00.
Customers are advised to not log a fault during the load reduction periods and should treat all installations as live and dangerous.
The power supplier indicated that load reduction would be done routinely and that it would update the public about the process.
