TIISETSO MAKHELE has been newly-appointed as the spokesperson for Premier Ace Magashule.

Makhele replaced the former spokesperson, Makalo Mohale, who has been appointed as a director in the Department of Human Settlements.

The Dewetsdorp-born, who commenced his new duties last month, said his appointment came as a surprise as he did not expect to be given the position.

“I am humbled by the responsibility given to me and the confidence that the leadership and the Premier has shown in me.

“I am aware of the challenges that are associated with the appointment.

“I feel that I am up to the challenge,” Makhele told Express.

“I am also aware that I have huge responsibilities and that I will face challenges and risks.

“But I will rely on the collective wisdom and skills of people working in the provincial communications departments, the office of the Premier, the Free State Legislature and elsewhere,” he said.

“I am also aware of the fact that the media houses in the province are extremely vibrant and they are able to interact with people.

“There is a healthy media environment in the province.

“I’m willing to add a lot of value by making sure that the image of the Premier remains intact,” he added.

Makhele said his duties would include dealing with media enquiries and ensuring that the Premier is able to communicate with the members of the public through different platforms.
