A former state prosecutor is expected to reappear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court today (10/03) regarding alleged corruption.
The matter against Nkululeko Ngcana (50) was postponed on his first appearance on 15 February, when he was granted bail of R1 500.
He was arrested following investigation into two incidents, on 25 August 2017 and 3 August 2020.
Phaladi Shuping, provincial spokesperson for the Director of Public Prosecutions, said the suspect had been stationed at the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court at the time he allegedly took bribes.
He said Ngcana faced charges of corruption emanating from taking bribes from motorists. The prosecutor had allegedly taken money from two suspects in exchange for withdrawing cases against them.
According to Shuping both victims are witnesses in the matter.
