The Mangaung Athletic Club has organised a 56,5 km race to raise funds for a talented cross-country and track athlete.
Mohlouwa Molutsi (20) recently secured a college scholarship to the Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York, that will allow him to hone his talent and further his education.
He will study sports management.
Molutsi’s programme will commence early in January.
This Thaba Nchu-based star was selected for the scholarship because of his merited performance in both athletics and cross-country competitions.
The race in his aid, scheduled to take place on Saturday (21/11), will start in Bloemfontein and end in Thaba Nchu.
Proceeds will go towards covering Molutsi’s travel expenses to America.
According to Olebogeng Mojaki, club spokesperson, the aim is to raise R60 000.
“Although Molutsi is talented, money is the big obstacle standing in the way of him fulfilling his dream. We urge sports lovers to help Molutsi through donation or participation in the race,” he said.
Registration costs R150 per athlete.
