Justice was served in the murder case of Bloemfontein resident Thabo Sylvester when the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court sentenced Bongani Ngxowa (23), Seqebo Lawrence Moeketsi (28) and Phepheng Motlalepule (27).
The court found them guilty of robbery and murder.
Ngxowa and Motlalepule were both sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment while Moeketsi received 18 years’ imprisonment.
They were sentenced on 3 October, ending an 18-month wait.
The accused were charged with robbing Sylvester of his cellphone and shoes, and thereafter fatally stabbing him with a knife on 24 March last year.
The incident reportedly happened at about 04:00.
The court heard the victim had been brutally attacked near a well-known tavern in Bloemfontein’s central business district (CBD).
The three men remained in custody until they were sentenced.
