Questus FC, a newly promoted football team in the Free State’s ABC Motsepe League, is still without a win.
Along with African Warriors, Mphatlalatsane United and Lijabatho FC, this Bloemfontein-based outfit is one of the four clubs desperate for its first win of the season.
These teams have all played six matches, the same as their counterparts who have recorded wins.
Though still without a win, Questus has managed to register three draws in its six league fixtures. The latest draw was in a local derby against Kovsie FC (University of the Free State), which ended without goals at the university’s campus in Bloemfontein on Saturday (26/10).
This was the team’s third local derby of the five to be played in the league’s first round.
The other two local derbies were against Bloemfontein Young Tigers and Mangaung Unite. Both games were narrowly lost by 1 – 0.
As in its previous matches, Questus showed a fighting spirit against Kovsie.
Its lack of firepower upfront, however, remains an immediate challenge and demands urgent attention.
In its six matches, Questus has only managed to score three goals.
It has a solid defence line, however, conceding only six goals in six matches while other teams have let in more than 12 goals.
The club’s managing director, Pogisho “Questy” Senakgomo, is hopeful about the prospect of improvement.
“Things will improve once the boys adapt to the standard of the league. A win will boost their confidence,” he said.
Still confident following its solid performance against the university side, Questus can only hope to turn the tide against Dikwena United from Qwaqwa in a league match scheduled for Saturday (02/11) at the Clive Solomon Stadium in Bloemfontein. Kickoff is at 15:00.
A victory will move Questus up the log table and away from the dreaded relegation zone. The team is 13th on the log.
- The other two local derbies are between Tigers and Bloemfontein Celtic at Siwelele Park, and Kovsie and Mangaung Unite at the UFS campus. These matches are also set to kick off at 15:00.
